Another article about logo design with more details. Designing a logo is a major topic that designers build years of experience before mastering it. It may not be easy to design a logo, but the journey of designing one is amazing. Since each project is different, each project process is different too. It’s like an adventure with different details and landscape.
Research
Research is the first step when designing a logo. Sometimes, designers are eager to start the designing process. But without enough information about the project, it’s hard to design a harmonious logo that reflects the idea behind the brand.
Ideas
After gathering enough information, next comes the brainstorming and idea generation step. This step is prior to the sketching part which’ll come immediately after. Here, the designer writes as many ideas for the logo as possible to ease up sketching it later. Perhaps there is no specific way to generate ideas. So each designer can work the way he knows best.
Sketching
In this step, the designer can sketch as many logo samples as he wants. As long as the idea is clear, sketching process can be easy. Otherwise, there will always be a miscommunication in the logo design later. Here, there is no specific number of sample logos that are sketched. So each designer can decide when to stop and present the samples to the client.
Designing
Once the client chooses the best logo option from the sketches presented, the designers starts designing it. Certainly digital software is used to design the logo and tracing it. If the logo has colors, the designer must be aware of the black-and-white logo option. When desaturating colors or turning them black-and-white, they become gray and details may not be clear. So choosing colors with good contrast will work better for this.
Logo Prototype
Prototype means testing the logo. The designer can test the designed logo digitally on mockup designs to see how it’ll look like. Or, he can print it with colors to test how it looks like when printed. This step is essential to know if the logo needs any more changes.
Finalizing and Presenting Logo
After the logo passes through prototype step, it’ll be ready to be presented to the client. Deliverables are usually sent to the client once it’s finalized and complete.
Do you know how many types of logos are there?
Sometimes it looks like a logo is one type. Or maybe two. But in reality, there are many types of logos.
- Logotype: Some logos can be designed with text only which is Typography without any image.
