Fun and practical pattern compositions for your projects.
Have you ever wondered how Artists designs her own digital patterns?
Artista’s designs are all designed by Anwaar S. AlAsousi.
In this post, I’ll share with you how I design my digital patterns.
How I’m going to explain it?
I will do sothrough the following visuals.
This simply explains the different compositions that I used during my 8 years of digital patterns designing. There are even more but for this post I chose 9 compositions that you can learn from. Kindly, do not copy those compositions and if you wish to learn or produce a digital pattern yourself, share with us your design and we’ll share it in our social media platforms.
I’m going to take you in a short journey with each composition. And I will use a pattern for each composition to demonstrate how the final result will be. This will ease your learning process a lot.
First and second compositions:
Third and fourth composition:
Fifth and sixth compositions:
Seventh and eighth compositions:
Ninth composition:
As a designer, you can experiment creating your pattern using the above pattern compositions (crediting us in return). And once you understand the formula, you will be able to create your own compositions thus creating beautiful digital patterns. This applies for hand-drawn and painted patterns as well. In a future blog post I may expand on this more.
You can choose one of the pattern compositions above and send us your final design (or process if possible). That way, I will share your result in return.
You are free to send me your pattern design through Artista email. Or by reaching me out in Artista social media platforms, like Twitter.
