I participated at the DAI festival that took place on November 25th which was one of the main reasons behind my lack of posts.
Since knowing about this event I started working on some paintings and chose digital patterns to print on canvas and acrylics. With the little time I had, I managed to set up the table as shown in the photos. November was one of the busiest months that I feel the need to rest a little before continuing to work. I also had to print new business cards, letterhead, and invoices to keep them at my office. I’m so glad I printed them already for I don’t have to worry about them these days.
Instead of digital patterns I painted actual ones myself. Designing a pattern isn’t an easy task but I wanted to practice and train my hands on drawing them as much as I could. I still need to work on the details but for a first time, I think I did a good job. Also, I wanted to show people how I work on designing my patterns from the scratch. And people who passed by my booth complimented me on my skills which meant a lot to me. I was able to transmit the message clearly. On top of that, I will work on displaying real products in the future and my online shop will change accordingly as well.
Back to the festival …
It ran from 2pm until 9pm and I stayed from 12pm until 8pm. I was overly worried about setting the table, and being on time so I had to arrive early.
The festival was full of amazing and talented artists and the whole ambiance was fun! It suited the event and everyone was welcoming. This was the second event I attended since 2013 and I felt that I missed a lot. But definitely such events would always be suitable for the kind of business I run. I’m a graphic designer so I can print my designs on any medium. My specialization is patterns so I constantly create digital and hand-drawn ones. These days I’m learning how to create more complicated patterns such as the Ottoman and Baroque patterns. I drew some damask patterns in the past but they weren’t that accurate so I’ll add them to the list as well. Moreover, I read a lot about history so it’s a plus.
For now I’ll focus on painting more patterns and organize my online stores. I’ll also post more on Instagram and Snapchat like I used to. This event took a lot of my time than I thought so I couldn’t concentrate on social media as much.
Stay tuned for new posts and features.
